Royal Biographer Slams Meghan Markle On TV: She's 'Rude' And 'Spiteful'

The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex Visit Johannesburg - Day Two

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they'd be stepping down as full time working members of the Royal Family back in January. Since there, there's been plenty of Royal Family drama spilling out of Buckingham Palace. Though the royals are trying to put up a united front in public, there are rumors suggesting there's a ton of friction happening behind the scenes. It certainly doesn't help the Royal Family when insiders, such as Princes Charles' biographer, criticize Harry and Meghan on live TV, which is exactly what happened on Monday (February 24).

Biographer Tom Bower appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss Queen Elizabeth's decision to forbid Harry and Meghan from using the word "royal" in any of their branding. Things got heated when Bower spoke about Harry and Meghan's official statement regarding the matter, which Bower called "really spiteful fury from Meghan — What Meghan wants Meghan gets."

“[The statement] was rude to the queen,” he continued. “What is spiteful is, she married into the royal family not that long ago and she bailed out. But she wants to bail out on her terms. What is most important for this country is to protect the reputation of the royal family. What you’ve really got is this couple being led by Meghan [who] wants to commercialize the royal family.”

When journalist Afua Adom questioned Bower's authority on the matter, asking if he knows, factually, that Harry is being “led by Meghan" in their decision-making. “It’s the truth,” Bower fired back. “She has a whole life, a whole career of commercial exploitation of herself. She has absolutely no status apart from being attached to the royal family.”

When Adom, as well as Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid, reminded Bower that Meghan was actually quite successful, as well as an impactful advocate for the environment and women's rights, before marrying Harry in 2018, Bower continued to criticize the Duchess. “If she wasn’t married into the royal family she couldn’t have set up a charity, she couldn’t started marketing Meghan’s footwear and all the rest of it. They’re trying to make money out of the royal family,” he alleged.

“At the beginning, she threw herself in it,” Bower conitnued. “She started campaigning for the environment and then she took all these private jets. When she didn’t tell the truth about Archie’s birth. When she tried to deliberately confuse people about the time of the birth… If they do anything to damage the 93-year-old sovereign of this wonderful country, they have got to start questioning themselves. It’s a selfish, victim-like approach to the world.”

Despite criticism from Bower and others, Meghan and Harry are reportedly living their best life in Canada and have no regrets about their decision to step down from their roles.
